Starbucks closes 600 US outlets
Denver News.Net Monday 29th September, 2008
About 600 Starbucks coffee shops are to be rationalized while management looks at the company’s overall operations.
50 stores in California have been listed for closure, as have a smaller number of stores in Minnesota, Texas and Alabama.
Starbucks coffee outlets in other states are also being looked at in the rationalization measures.
The 600 stores comprise 8 percent of the 7,250 outlets owned by Starbucks.
The closures will result in the loss of 12,000 jobs.
