The Texas Rangers claimed outfielder DJ Peters off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday and added him to the active roster, while outfielder David Dahl was designated for assignment.

Texas also selected the contract of right-hander Jimmy Herget and optioned right-hander Demarcus Evans to Triple-A Round Rock.

The addition of Peters means four former Dodgers players have been acquired by the Rangers since the end of last season. Rangers manager Chris Woodward is a former Dodgers coach.

Right-hander Brett de Geus was selected from the Dodgers in the Rule 5 draft this past winter, while right-hander Josh Sborz was acquired in a February trade. Peters was claimed, while right-hander Dennis Santana was acquired in a June trade after he was designated.

Peters, 25, made his major league debut this season, batting .192 with one home run and four RBIs in 18 games with the Dodgers. He was designated by the club Friday after left-hander Danny Duffy was acquired from the Kansas City Royals.

Dahl, 27, was batting .210 with four home runs and 18 RBIs in 62 games with the Rangers. A 2019 All-Star, he is a career .272 hitter over five seasons with the Colorado Rockies and Rangers and has 42 home runs with 160 RBIs.

Herget, 27, has not appeared in the major leagues this season and was 1-0 with a 3.20 ERA in 20 appearances for the Rangers last season. Evans, 24, is 0-2 in 13 relief appearances with a 5.65 ERA in 2021.
