The Colorado Rapids and forward Michael Barrios agreed to a one-year extension Thursday that also includes a club option for the 2023 season.
Barrios, 30, totaled eight goals and six assists in 33 games (25 starts) in 2021 to help Colorado earn the top seed in the Western Conference.
"Mikey demonstrated his qualities from his first day with the group and quickly became an important piece to our success in 2021," Rapids general manager Padraig Smith said in a statement. "We're delighted to extend his time with the club and look forward to his seeing his continued impact on the pitch as we look to build on a historic season."
The Rapids acquired the Colombian winger from FC Dallas in January after he spent his first six MLS seasons with Dallas. Barrios has 39 goals and 51 assists in his MLS career, spanning 212 career appearances (181 starts).
