But missed opportunities on offense, and too many mistakes across the board, ended up dooming them in the end.

The Broncos tied the game at 3-3 on a 39-yard field goal by Will Lutz.
It was a defensive battle throughout, and the Titans made some plays to keep them in it.
On this day, they just couldn't make enough plays to win it.
Titans cornerback Roger McCreary intercepted Broncos quarterback Bo Nix toward the end of the first quarter when he went up and took the ball away from Broncos receiver Courtland Sutton.
In the second quarter, the Titans jumped back ahead after another turnover caused by the defense, and a field goal.

Leading 6-3 in the closing minute, the Titans had a chance to get into halftime with the lead.
But a pair of incompletions, and Ward getting sacked at the 1, forced the Titans into punting.
The Broncos took advantage of the time, and good field position, and they cashed it in for a touchdown a 22-yard touchdown pass from Nix to Sutton, which made it 10-6.
Titans returner Chimere Dike returned the ensuing kickoff 71 yards to put Slye in position to kick a 42-yard field goal, and he made it, and the game went to halftime with the Broncos leading 10-9.
The Titans continued to be scrappy on defense, forcing another turnover early in the third quarter. Safety Xavier Woods picked off Nix this time, after Simmons created pressure.
The Titans cashed that in for three more points on a 35-yard field goal by Slye, to make it 12-10 at the 11:56 mark of the third quarter.

The Titans had another chance late after a fourth down stop on defense, but they couldn't move the ball.
A late penalty by Simmons allowed the Broncos to run more clock.
When the Titans got the ball back, Ward was sacked, and fumbled, and the game was over.
So were the hopes of a Week One upset.
